 .  This document is an attempt to chart the family trees of everyone
 . who ever lived on Red Island and their descendants.
 .
 .  Descendants of Red Islanders should note that only the Red Island
 . portion of their ancestry is included.

 .  Many, many names and family relationships are still missing.
 .
 .  Any information about Red Island related people (your parents and
 . grandparents, uncles and aunts, brothers and sisters, children and
 . grandchildren, nieces and nephews, ...) is solicited.
 .
 .  The information needed includes marriage year, name of spouse,
 . childrens' names, birth years and the place where the family lived
 . when each child was born (town name if in Newfoundland).
 .
 .  The information in this document has been compiled from various
 . sources, some more reliable than others, so mistakes do occur.  The
 . most common error is in year of birth.

 .  This document was originally written as a record of the names of the
 . people from the Newfoundland side of my family, primarily Red Island
 . and vicinity.  It has been expanded to include everyone who ever
 . lived on Red Island and their descendants.
 .
 .  Red Island was relatively isolated from other settlements, and the
 . majority of people (at least until 1930 or so) married on the island.
 . Although not everyone on the island was related, almost everyone was
 . related to some one of everyone's relatives (for example, someone who
 . is not related to my mother is probably related to her cousins).
 .
 .  The layout of generations is based on my maternal grandparents,
 . James McCarthy and Julia Reddy.
 .
 .  Families are listed alphabetically by surname within generations.
