"Quest of the Golden Gannet", 1979, Dorothy P Barnhouse, 4-NotRecommended [2008-Jul]
A novel for juveniles, starring a thirteen year old on a voyage from England to the New Founde Land. A pretty good sailing tale,
including storms, violence, and an ongoing shipboard mystery, but the Newfoundland content is almost nil. A few mentions of
d'Iberville's raids and of their destination on the foot of the Burin peninsula, which, as they get near to it, the story ends.
"A Question Of Survival", 1988, Peter Sinclair, editor, 5-Fair
Subtitled "The Fisheries and Newfoundland Society". A Memorial University publication. Ten essays by various authors on aspects of the
fisheries. Was contemporary at the time of publication, but now much of it has become dated by subsequent events. Quite mixed in quality.
"A Question of Time", 1993, J F Cuff, 3-NotRecommended [2007-Aug]
A mediocre work of science fiction centering around the invention of a receiver for messages from the near future - (an invention
made from scrap electronics by a non-scientist (of course), and how the events that are revealed change Newfoundland.
